A fire blanket is a safety device designed to extinguish medium incipient (starting) fires. It is made of fire retardant material which is placed over a fire in order to smother it. Can be widely used in kitchens, restaurants, hospitals, hotels, laboratories, gas stations, automobiles, etc.
Although not a replacement for a traditional fire extinguisher, a fire blanket can be a very useful adjunct to one. Fire blankets work by smothering the fire.
